It is important for me to practice in ways which align with my values as a person and a professional. Before commissioning my services please be aware that:
I use my own expertise to support and offer a psychological opinion on each situation. I may not always share your views but will offer criticality in a respectful way. I place the interests of the child above all else.
I provide written records which are meaningful and support change. This can include a consultation record, brief summary of involvement or shared records of a child-focused planning meeting. More extensive reports are pre-agreed.
I work collaboratively, recognising the expertise of individuals that are involved. I anticipate that parents and professionals will contribute to the process.
I use the assessment tools which I consider most appropriate to each situation. I rarely use standardised assessment and do not report scores, but rather use assessment dynamically to inform my psychological formulation.
I support the identification and understanding of a child’s Special Educational Needs and help establish a meaningful action plan. I will not to provide diagnostic labels such as Dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Condition, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, etc. If you have concerns or questions regarding diagnoses or specific disorders then I am happy to discuss these.
